Step into the 1860’s and witness battles between the Blue & the Gray, visit their camps, listen to period music, and immerse yourself in the life of this most extraordinary time in America’s history

Saturday, September 14, 2024
10:00 AM: Camp open; camp life demonstrations, School of the Soldier start and continue throughout day
10:00 AM: First Artillery Demonstration (Artillery demos will be held every hour on the hour)
10:15 AM: Recruit and Drill Demonstrations
11:15 AM: Pay Call in Union Camp
1200 NOON: Camp life and commissary meals served to Union and Confederate soldiers
1:15 PM: Skirmish
2:00 PM: Preparations in the camps for battle. Listen for announcements.
2:15 PM: Presentation at the Medical Tent “Civil War Islip Town” and then proceed to viewing sight for the battle.
3:00 PM: Battle Begins (approximately 40 minutes in duration)
3:50 PM: Sick call and medical demonstration at the Union Hospital – Dinner preparations in the camps
6:00 PM: Dinner in camps served to Union and Confederate soldiers
7:30 PM: Flag retirement ceremony and memorial service – Union Camp (Open to public)
9:00 PM: ‘Tattoo’ – Public program ends for the evening (Camps close to public)
Sunday, September 15, 2024
10:00 AM: Camp open; camp life demonstrations, School of the Soldier start and continue throughout day
10:15 AM: Recruit and drilling demonstration/Loading and firing competition in Union Camp.
11:00 AM: Civil War era church service in the chapel (approximately 30 minutes)
11:40 AM: Presentation at the Medical Tent “Civil War Islip Town”
12:00 NOON: First Artillery Demonstration (Artillery demos will be held every hour on the hour)
12:00 NOON: Camp life and commissary meals served to Union and Confederate soldiers
12:30 PM: Preparations in the camps for battle. Listen for announcements.
1:00 PM: Battle Begins (approximately 40 minutes in duration)
2:15 PM: Sick call and medical demonstration at the Union Hospital
3:00 PM: Last artillery demonstration in Union Camp
3:15 PM: Program Ends. Camps closed.
