Sixth Annual Civil War Weekend at the Grange

Sayville, NY

September 20 - 21, 2014

Five years of hard work and perseverance pays off…

For our Sixth time, we received an enormous vote of confidence with a grant from the John C. Dunphy Foundation, the Sayville Chamber of Commerce, and the Town of Islip that made this year’s event the grandest ever. In addition to our usual partners (Co. H, 14th Brooklyn, the 9th Virginia, the 30th Virginia, and the Sons and Daughters of Union Veterans) we welcomed back the 10th New York Cavalry after a two year absence and invited a new partner, the 6th New York Independent Battery whose period Civil War cannon works as well today as it did 150 years ago. Florance Drum Company returned as our period Sutler for the weekend and Larry Moser & Mary Nagin provided period music on Saturday evening. Miss Vicky Berger transformed the parlor of the caretaker’s house in a museum of all things 19th Century. We had fine autumn weather (save for storms on Saturday night) and thanks to the animal lovers in the Cavalry, our camp included Callie the mellow Jack Russell and Linus the kitten. Special thanks to Spellman Studios of Sayville for providing excellent photos for Sunday.
