Year in Review
With the 150th Anniversaries over, 2016 was bound to see a slackening of the pace especially with road events. Our big one this year was the 155th Anniversary of First Bull Run held at Cedar Creek battlefield and, as with every Bull Run event, the temperatures were over 100F (With still photos under construction, you can see the event on our Video Page). In April, we returned to the New York Historical Society for a fourth time and attended the annual reenactment at Neshaminy. What we lacked in battles we more than made up in school programs and we completed a record amount for the season. We attended some novel affairs including a surreal appearance at the Bayport Aerodrome and a more conventional one at Baiting Hollow Church in the East End. Our 8th Civil War Weekend at the Grange went off well and we closed the season with Remembrance Day in November and finally Christmas as the Grange presided over by Chaplain George Munkenbeck. Sadly, death touched us yet again with the passing in April of our Tom Crowley.
