Year in Review
The 2020 season will certainly be memorable. At our opening meeting, we elected our fifth President to run the Association and we made it as far as the February meeting and drill before the pandemic struck New York. After that, we watched all of our events fall like dominoes as the year progressed. Nevertheless, we only canceled two of our meetings (March and April), substituting Zoom for May and November, and convened at the Grange for the remainder albeit following distancing guidelines. When cases spiked yet again in November, we still sent a small contingent to Gettysburg for Remembrance Day while several of us held our own ceremony at the gravesite of General Regis de Trorbiand here on Long Island. We returned to the Veterans Day program at Lakeview Cemetery for the dedication of a new headstone for a Civil War veteran. And with great thanks to the Ketcham Inn in Center Moriches, we finally had a full fledged weekend in uniform, giving a living history demostration on the premises.
