Living History at Gettysburg National Park

After 14 years the 67th NY finally returned to the Gettysburg NPS living history program! NPS Ranger Matt Atkinson, the director of the program, placed us at the Spangler's Spring demonstration area as the original 67th NY fought nearby on Culp's Hill. This was our first time at Spangler's Spring (previously we've been at the Pennsylvania Monument) and we were very grateful for shade. For late August, we had near perfect weather (apart from a strong Saturday night storm) with temps barely getting above 80F. We were joined by four members of the 104th Pennsylvania and gave demonstrations three times on Saturday and twice on Sunday. Given how long it's been since our last time, this was the first time on the battlefield for almost everyone and it was an unforgettable experience. Let's hope Ranger Atkinson was pleased enough to have us back a second time.
