7th Annual Civil War Christmas
at St. John's Episcopal Church

Oakdale, NY

December 14, 2024

We returned to historic St. John's Church in Oakdale, LI at the invite of the organizers, the Oakdale Historical Society. While we had clear skies and a full moon, the temps hovered at freezing so we broke out the greatcoats and drank lots of hot cider. Inside the church, this year's acts included the Idle Hour Elementary Chorus, The Victorian Christmas Carolers (by the Bay Area Friends of the Fine Arts), the Victorian Baking Contest, Soldier's Q & A (with the 67th NY and 30th VA), and finally Chaplain George Munkenbeck's Civil War Christmas service. The church was packed for almost the entire event and we exited under clear skies with full moon shining. An excellent way of ending the 2024 season.
