Re-dedication of Civil War Flags
Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Building
Huntington, NY
June 15, 2002
The Huntington Historical Society invited the local Civil War reenacting community to their museum at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Building to celebrate the restoration of two Civil War flags belonging to a local regiment (alas, that regiment's designation was not recorded here). We joined the 119th NY and civilians from Old Bethpage Village for the event. The society couldn't get a permit for a parade so we crowded at the entrance to listen to some speeches, including one fellow portraying the New York State governor of that period. We fired off a couple of volleys and after the ceremony we were all able to see the fine restoration work.
