8th Annual Smithtown Historical Society
Civil War Program

Smithtown, NY

May 20, 2011

The forecast called for the customary washout for the Smithtown Historical Society's Civil War school program however we were granted a last minute reprieve and the rains never came. We had already set up an indoor camp in the Brush Barn and managed to handle the surge of 1,200 kids from all around Long Island. The 10th NY Cavalry, 9th, 30th, and 57th Virginia, and Jackon's Flying Artillery all returned however the Doctor took ill and had to heal himself. We sent our largest delegation to date: 13 total including the first educational program for our Nurse (Charla), Surgeon (John), and Pvt Joe Forgione.
