Memorial Day Parade
with the Sons of Union Veterans

Hempstead, NY

May 27, 2007

The local chapter of the Sons of Union Veterans, Moses A. Baldwin Camp #544, invited local reenactors to join them for the Memorial Day Parade in Hempstead, NY. Although this was not a 67th New York event, in the name of solidarity, several of us volunteered our time given that some of our members also belong to this chapter of the Sons. Five from our regiment, plus some from the 119th NY, made the relatively short march from the HQ of the Sons, down Nassau Road, and into Greenfield Cemetery where we partook in a ceremony for the War dead that included an honorary volley fired over the grave of Moses A. Baldwin himself.
