New York City St. Patrick's Day Parade
New York, NY
March 17, 2007
After a six year absence, the 67th New York marched in New York's grandest parade: the Saint Patrick's Day Parade. We had high hopes of a strong showing this year as the day fell on Saturday however a Nor'easter on Friday took its toll on the ranks as well as blanketing the city in a sheet of ice and snow. Nevertheless, four of our most intrepid (including Your Correspondent) made the trip into the city and fell in with 100 fellow re-enactors (including the 61st NY) to impersonate the Original 69th NY. We mustered at the 69th Regiment Armory, home of the current 69th NY, located on Lexington between 25th and 26th Streets, took the subway up to 42nd, and then marched to our assembly spot on 47th Street. We had a long wait but when we finally started marching at three in the afternoon, it was well worth the interminable wait and frostbitten toes.
